Leave the car behind and embrace the island pace. One of the best parts of staying here is how much you can do just by stepping outside your door.
From calm morning swims to sunset strolls and easy, low-key adventures, here are some of our favorite walkable activities nearby.
Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon & Kahanamoku Beach (10-minute walk)
Welcome to our “pool.”
The lagoon is calm, swimmable, and perfect for an easy beach day. Right across the way, Kahanamoku Beach gives you that classic Waikiki ocean view.
Make it a moment:
- Pack a picnic (we’ve got insulated bags & ice packs for you)
- Float, swim, or just relax
- Stay for the Friday night fireworks
Ala Moana Regional Park (12-minute walk)
This is another option for a relaxed beach day without the crowds of central Waikiki.
Calm waters, plenty of space, and a laid-back local feel make it perfect for a slow morning or an easy afternoon.
What to do here:
- Swim at Ala Moana Beach
- Pick up some L&L Hawaiian Barbecue nearby and have a picnic.
- Walk the paths along the water
- Play tennis or just relax under the palm trees
For something a little different:
- Try lawn bowling at the Honolulu Lawn Bowls Club
- Book a floating yoga class with Yoga Floats
Ala Moana Center
Just a short walk away, Ala Moana Center is so much more than just the world’s largest open-air shopping center. It’s an easy spot to grab a bite, cool off, and wander for a bit.
It’s a great place to:
- Catch a free 20-minute hula show. It takes place at 5:00 PM daily at Centerstage.
- Take an Art Walk. Enjoy Ala Moana’s unique, museum-quality public artwork.
- Watch other cultural performances. Check the website event page for more details.
Fort DeRussy Beach Park
A stroll to Fort DeRussy Beach Park is the best, easiest evening activity.
An easy walk from the condo brings you to a stretch of beach and boardwalk that feels quieter than the main Waikiki strip.
Why we love it:
- Unobstructed ocean views
- Soft sand & easy walking paths
- A simple, peaceful way to end the day
You can grab a drink, wander slowly, and watch the sun go down.
Hawaii WOW Gondola Cruises
Ride a Venetian-style gondola through the Ala Wai Canal. This unique gondola experience is great for all ages.
Hawaii WOW Gondola Cruises launch from the Ala Wai Harbor, just right outside of the Ilikai Marina, so it’s incredibly easy to fit into your day.

Waikiki Trolley
If you want to explore a little farther without driving, hopping on a Waikiki Trolley is an excellent option. The nearest stops are just next door:
- Pink Line (in front of the Ilikai Hotel)
- Green Line (near Prince Waikiki)
It’s relaxed, affordable, and a fun way to see more of Waikiki.
You really don’t need a car to enjoy Waikiki—especially here.
